Data cataloging is the process of making an organized inventory of your data and implies actions performed by people, driven by processes. And merely having a data catalog tool does not mean that metadata is automatically entered into the catalog. It requires data catalog implementation activities, setting up metadata collection processes, ensuring that metadata is up-to-date and consistent, fine-tuning search processes, highlighting the catalog's existence, and teaching the workforce to use it effectively.
